Looking for the best way to block a station from getting outside inbound calls. I just want to use this DN as an internal number but my DID range covers 0000-9999, so sometime I get nonsense calls from the outside I want to block.

Never overlook the fact that * and # are valid numbers. Assign a number of *XXX or #XXX for your internal-only DNs

Also, voice of experience here as we too have all 10k numbers, never-ever assign DNs in the 0-thousand or 9-thousand block unless you have latent masochistic tendancies and enjoy fighting digit conflicts with both 0+ and 9+ calling. The 0XXX may be less of an issue, but we still rue the day we ever opened up that number block for assignment.

We eventually released 0XXX and 9XXX back to the telco and now use those DNs for any internal applications.

Only my 2¢ worth...

Put the inside only DN's in a different partition than the DID DN's then don't put the inside only DN's partition in the Gateways CSS.

Example:

Inside only DN's - put them in a new Partition like NON-DID-PT
DID DN's Phone-PT

Gateway CSS - Phone-PT, VoiceMail-PT
Phone CSS - Phone-PT, NON-DID-PT, (Route Patterns)-PT, Voicemail-PT

Then all the phones can call all the other phones but incoming calls from the Gateways can only get to DID DN's and Voicemail.

Thanks MitelInMyBlood! I am staying away from the 0XXXX and 9XXXX. We might break those out to become POTS lines. Appreciate your help.

PNDSCM - Thanks for the info, I ended up doing exactly what you said and it works blocking the DID inbound calls. I now have one set up that is like that and another I am building that would restrict DID and calls and also from production phones in the "real" partition.
