I have a mailbox on our Octel 350 that needs to receive messages completely anonymously.
I have tried several ways of blocking the calling party ID from the Octel however I have not been successful the SMDI record that is sent to the Octel still contains the calling party ID and therefore when a user on the Octel presses 5 to play the envelope information they hear who sent the message.
Is there a way to lose the calling party ID before it’s sent to the Octel?

If you are talking about a CallManager for your call processing, yes. Send the call through a Translation Pattern and manipulate CLID inside the TP.

Thanks but that is what we had done, putting a # in the translation pattern, however the SMDI record that is sent to the OCtel through the Vg248 still shows the calling party ID.
Would I need to put a pre dot number or maybe more than just the #?
have you done this? if so what did your translation look like?
Thanks for the help.

Build a TP with the number of the mailbox for the Translation Pattern. Put it in a PT reachable by all the devices that call it. Give it a Calling Search Space and that can reach the path to the Octel VMail system. (CTI RP?)
Under the Calling Line ID Presentation and Calling Name Presentation fields put 'Restricted'
I have done this in places where the Exec's want to call out to the factory without the factory people knowing the Exec's number.
Hopefully your version of CCM has this option in the TP.

Ok that is excatly what we had setup, and it does block calling party ID to the called phone, however when the call is forwarded, the SMDI record that is presented to the Octel the calling party ID is still there and so the Octel can play back the number. any other idea's?? thanks..

Sorry fresh out of idea's. I've never done an SMDI integration. We always use Unity for VMail. I've never tried to block the CLID to Unity so this method may not work there either. Can you remove the option to play the message envelope?

yes I'm working on the Octel side also, might have a solution there but it will require dedicated ports... or sending the call out of one Octel to another, neither are great... thanks for you help.
