I would like to know if there is way way that I could prevent the host of a my website form put banners on my pages?

i dont know if you can stop you rhost putting banners on ytour page but you should be able to stop them displaying using css.

if you know the size of the banner (and nearlly all banners are the same dimensions) then you can get rid of them with something like this...

IMG[height="60"][width="468"], IMG[height="60px"][width="468px"]{display: none !important;}

it may work so give it a try

hope it helps

Tappa, you may want to look into the agreement between you and your host first. Many hosts have a clause in their contract which states they may put banners on your page and any attempt to remove/alter them may result in termination of your agreement.

I'd just hate for that to happen without your understanding. Good luck. Kevin

Pay your host!! Live long and make your kids suffer..

This is true. The free sites use this as a way to continue offering free space. Your site is their billboard. Good point Cheech. Kevin

You could just go with a host that dosn't have banners, or popups for that matter.

What host are you with?

As mentioned previously, the banners are usually part of your contract and any attempt to alter or remove them is a breach of contract, your site is likely to be removed.

If I personally owned the server and offered you free space with adverts and you tried to remove them, lets say that your site wouldn`t be on the server for long.

If you want a free host with no ads, you can take a look at but I must warn you that I have had quite a few problems with them, mostly downtime.

Hope this helps Wullie
