Hey,
I think i'm right in saying that all apps that use the Windows Installer will not install unless using Admin rights. Thats also the same case for many installer packages and general software that will make any system changes. As well as this, I have ensured that ONLY .PDF .DOC and .XLS files can get though past the proxy (to prevent files from the net/email.) and also either fitted drive locks on floppy drives or banned them using GP's. The problem is that if the user is feeling clever (or brave!
) they could simply boot using CD/Floppy.
To be honest, banning ways of brining apps in is more effective. GP's let you ban drives (although already installed apps will still work) and most good proxy servers will ban downloading of apps.

Some apps will install when logged in as a local User. These are the ones I'm concerned about blocking, as all the users I support will have local User, not Administrator access. As far as the proxy server is concerned, I have no control over what's downloaded. I would just like a way to prevent users from installing apps...
