is there a way in either IE or Firefox, preferabbly implemented through Group Policy to block users access to specific websites? Can't find a way to block 3 of them on our router so looking to the fine tek-tips community for help. Just three sites need to be blocked.

How savvy are your users? How is your workstation security set up? If your users are not local administrators, you may simply be able to use a hosts file to block. More info on hosts files here

The router is the better solution because it's a single point of configuration. A Hosts file needs to be set up on each machine.

Another possibility, if the sites have single IP addresses might be to set up forward lookup zones in your DNS server to redirect into subspace. If you're trying to block larger sites like Google that have multiple IP addresses this solution would be very impractical though.
