This is a peculiar situation. Someone unrelated to our company has forwarded their cellphone number to our main line. Is there a way to block the incoming calls from a particular number? I have no idea who the carrier is for this cell number...

Thanks in advance!

it might be easier to ask one of the 'error' callers what number they dialled, and then send a text message to the errant cell phone to un-forward... you can probably send to a 10 digit cell number without knowing what provider they use.

I have the cellphone number. The trouble is, when I try to contact the owner, the call is forwarded back to the company...I'll try the text thing; maybe it doesn't use the same protocol.

Hi, and what does it matter. What is the consequences about this happening. Is your main line going to an automated menu or to the receptionist?

What release is your software ?
What does the display tell you when answered by a 2616 or other display phone?

The main line is answered by a receptionist. The cellphone number comes up on the screen. Apparently, the owner of this cellphone number is in high demand, as there is a substantial number of callers throughout the day for this person.

Hi,
Are you sure the cell is forwared to your main number, it can be forwared to a DID not yet configured, if your are lucky that could be the case and assign it to a free key on any set as non-ringning. If it comes in on the main number, you have no other choice to tell the receptionist to ask questions on how to reach that cell user diffrently...

The blocking features are typically only available on POTS or analog trunks... and not DID's or PRI. What kind of trunking do you have? If you give me the NPA/NXX (first six digits) of the cell phone, I can probably give you the carrier, although you might not be able to get them to do anything.

if you are using T1's turn on Dchannel messaging, if you do not use CDR. Find the number that is being called and put a message in your mermail stating that they have been forwarded to a non-working number.

DCMessaging will be able to tell you what number was dialed, if you are using PRI.
