Hi Everybody!

Do you have any idea, why webcasters are scanning regulary the ports? Their scans are blocked by my firewall, so I can notice them.

Joe

Are they systematically scanning a range of ports?

Or are they scanning selected ports?

In the case of selected ports, you need to determine if that is a 'port of concern' or are they simply pinging your machine(s) to establish your availability to receive content?

They will have much less luck if you are behind a router. I was (at one point) seeing over 100 pings a day from my DSL ISP on my software firewall related to availability and IP lease logistics.
