Block Internal users from sending email to specific external recipient

Does anyone know the "proper" method for doing this with Exchange 5.5? I want to block certain internal users from sending email to a specific external email address. Anyway this can be done on a per-user basis or is a whole-shot deal?

I need to do the same thing, and it doesn't have to be the proper way!!! Any will do. Please help...

Since there is no proper way to block certain external email domain, you can test with editing your host file under the Exchange server and point whatever domain to a bogus number.

# For example:
#
# 127.0.0.5 acme.com # acme.com server
# 127.0.0.5 bogus.com # bogus.com server


With Exchange IMS, under CONNECTIONS, if you use DNS, it will first call up this host file and attempt to deliver to the bogus ip. It will fail with NDR.

Or you can manually key in all the allowable domain when you use "Specify by Domain" under CONNECTIONS in IMS.

I might (or might not) have the answer!
I have added the 'blocked' receiver as a custom recipient (hidden) using their smtp address (e.g. user@elsewhere.com).
Under delivery restrictions add user(s) from the internal address book to those prevented from sending to the blocked receiver.
This appears to work under my test conditions as I get an undeliverable msg back if I add myself to the blocked sender list.
Does anyone know if I will have inadvertently caused problems elsewhere?

Sounds like it'll work. Since custom recipient holds no email on the server, I don't see any long term problems. This is a per email address block. Sounds like it'll work nicely.
