This is probably a stupid question, but is there any way you can block incomming calls into a specific DDI ext from an external number, but still alow internal incomming calls into it.

Cheers Nick.

Also, CLS FR2 blocks all calls in or out of the system.

If you want to block all external calls to that number you can use an IDC table in LD 49 and send that number wherever you want it to go.

Thanks for the info Guys.

This is qusetion for GHTROUT. Are you saying that if I change the CLS of a specific ext to FR2 this will block all external incoming calls coming into that ext. If so what is the CLS to then allow external calls back into that ext?

Change the number to a non DID number then only internal will be able to call it.

There are also 3rd party devices that sit between the PBX and the PRI that allow you to manipulate inbound before they reach the PBX, and outbound calls from the PBX before they hit the PRI.

If you want to divert inbound calls from specific numbers away from particular internal extensions, this can be a very good solution, although I don't know what the pricing is.

What if you want to block one incoming number that is randomly dialed to any one of the DID's. There is a phishing scam going around from 632-859-0400. The person sounds very professional and explains that he is updating some sort of federal record. He will request information for addresses, phone numbers, ssn’s account numbers etc. We want to block this number entirely at our switch. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to block all calls from a particular number you will need to intercept it before it hits the Switch.

Something like Secure Logix from the GHtrout post above is needed, as it is a device that sits between the CO and The PBX and can treat calls before they hit the PBX.
