how or can you block incoming calls based on the calling number? I know I have the IDC table for called DN, but they are trolling through our system. Thanks

This question is asked often. You can't unless you try to control every incoming call with a Symposium script.

Does not matter though - if they are persistent, they will just block Caller ID.

this answer comes up alot. xfer to 911 and they will call about twice before their line is locked up.

I hear that xfer to 911 often too, but I'm suspect of that.

The call may simply be a nuisance, but it isn't a threat. I think people are going to take it seriously some day, and it isn't what the fire department, rescue squad and police would want us to be doing.

Interesting - we have our own internal 911 / dispatch center, perhaps for the sake of appearance I will suggest this option instead of sending to the fireboard. Thanks good stuff

For the real PITA trolls that seem to mean no harm, I've created an attendant service in mail that plays the following message before being sent to a dummy voicemail box. "thank you for calling the Internal Fraud Invesitgation Unit. Please be advised, for our protection, your name and phone number will be recorded during this call and will be used for any potential follow up our Investigation Unit may have to start regarding this call..." It then goes to a mailbox that I check on slow days for amusement. Funny to hear all the stuttering, clammering and quick disconnects. :)
Users that have complained about abnoxious callers like this are given the extension so they can blind transfer to it.

No sense creating a script that could bog the works up, so why not have a little fun the the dummies.

We send calls to an ACD that loops forever. They get a message ever 5 seconds that says their call will be handled in "3,499,656" seconds. Blocked calls all go there too. We publish this number to employees for solicitors also.
