Hi,

I'm having a problem with one of my users, He has an email account on my exchange 2000 server, He receives his mail through a POP account, every now and then He received messages that have blank sender, blank subject line and blank body text. Anytime that this happens his MS Outlook 2000 starts receiving duplicate messages.

Is there a way that I can block those type of messages on the server or is there something I can do on his notebook pc to resolve the issue?

Thanks.

Rgds.

Most Exchange Av can do this. We run sybari's antigen and are able to do it by blocking the subject "<>".

Be careful about blocking blank senders, though - the RFC says blank sender field is the valid format for NDRs & also for reverse connections when checking an incoming mail's domain's validity.

Thanks for the replies, I'm using Trendmicros's ISMB. I'll call them to see if they can help me.

Take Care.

You can create mail rules that will delete messages with blank senders.

I have been recieving email where the from and subject and content are blank. Is there a way to create a rule to automatically delete these messages?

kpetursson, the rule setup will depend on what mail client software you are using. But basically, the rule(s) will be something like: Where the From line does not contain @ delete it. OE can do this with 1 rule, most versions of Outlook will require 2 rules, other mail clients should be similar.

smah.

I running outlook 2000

I don't know where to start with this rule. I know how to run the rule wizard, but all of the options I am presented with all require it to look for some text in some field, NOT a lack of text.

If you know of a way to do it I would appriciate it very much!
