I am using RH linux 7.1 (Seawolf). When I want to mound CD or floppy - "No block device found" message appears...
I haven't done any configuration - this problems occured suddenly...;). Before it was OK...Any idea? Will errata help?
(CD is working well - I can boot from it, install etc...but not mount it).
What's wrong?
Thanks Petr

You have probably made some changes in /etc/fstab or /dev/directory, or you have changed HW configuration. You should have something like this in /etc/fstab:

/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,ro 0 0

and something like this in /dev:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Aug 14 2001 /dev/cdrom -> hdc

No, I haven't done any changes.
Fstab contains exactly what pupu recommend.
There is /dev/cdrom -> hdb - should be OK - did work before...
Now system also at startup launch HW config application (Kudzu ?) - and says - that sound card was removed from system (but it wasn't)...
Do you think the problem could be with loading modules?
Thanks
Petr

U guessed it right, it's definitely the problem with the modules.

By loading modules I've found following message :
/drivers/block/paride/frig.o
- value too large for this data type...
I guess it's problem with device drivers...Have somebody seen such error before? What should be done (recompiling device drivers?).Thanks

I do have a sneaking suspision that it's a corrupted driver.

Thank krale, but this computer is not connected to network..:(.(It's only home desktop without connection to internet...).
