I basically need to block a specific INCOMING number,
but blocking the entire area code from calling us is
not a problem.

I do not have vectoring, and I know ARS is used for
OUTGOING, but this call is incoming.

I repeat, I do not have vectoring.

The call comes in normally over one trunk.

Any ideas? Once again, if I have to block the entire
area code, that would not be a problem.

You should be able to have your (Local or Long Distance) provider do area code blocking for you. I've heard that they can block these ways:

By State
By Area Code
By First 6 digits of the number

- - And my provider will do ANI blocking for me which blocks 10 digits, or a single number which is what you need.

You can block specific incoming numbers or area codes through your ANI tables. In my old environment, we would send the call to a vdn/vector that would essentially hang up on them. We called the table something like Blocked numbers, and when the incoming call matched the number in the ANI table, it got sent to the disconnect option.

I am sorry that I do not have the specific commands at hand- I am in a new position and our switch doesn't get delivered until tomorrow...
