Block access to streaming media using Media Player 1

I am looking for a way to block access to any streaming media using Windows Media player and/or any other media player. We have been experiencing major bottlenecks in our network and according to our NDA applicance the culprit is streaming media servers(music, video,..etc.) Instead of removing media player from each machine on the network I was wondering if there is a quick and easy security policy that I can set to prohibit access to either media player and/or streaming media servers on the Internet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

On your firewall/router block the ports listed on this page -

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/serve/firewall.aspx

and via group policy prevent changing the settings for media player etc
