BLOB question on size

Hmm, I posted this already, but it doesn't appear to be on the site?


Quick question. If I have a one MB file in Windows, and store it as a BLOB, does that BLOB item take up one MB of space in DB2?

Basically, what I'm wondering is if our 3.8 GBs worth of files will take up 3.8 GBS of disk space on a table as rows of BLOBS, or if it will take up more or less?

You can be sure it won't take less as DB2 won't try to compress it unless you have some non-default settings. Have a read of "Space requirements for large object data" at
