bloated powerpoint slides

hi

I have a problem with single powerpoint slides with really simple excel sheets embedded getting bloated up to about 1.5 MB. Very similar slides have only about 60 KB. What could be the reason for this? How can I avoid gettin slides that size and how can i can change the existing ones to become "normal" sized again?

Try linking instead of embedding. Of course, this means the source file will have to be made available wherever the PowerPoint presentation goes.

for an explanation of the pros/cons of linking vs. embedding along with other considerations. It was written for sound files, but I'm sure it applies to any linked/embedded file.
