I have a website

captaingarysproductsdotcom

if you click on the right side of the screen where this is not a link (click in between the links to see what I am having a problem with) it causes a vertical black line to appear and start blinking.

Opera and IE 7 do not show this. Anyone have any ideas. There is no reasoning (that I can find) for it.

When you click refresh it goes away!

Any Ideas?

I am using Firefox 3.0.10 on Windows XP.

If you click halfway in between any of the links on the right column I am getting a vertical black link blinking about 2/3 of they way across the screen.

ck1999,

Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode (it's on your start menu somewhere) to see if one of your add-ons is causing the issue for you?

The Candyman,

I validate each page before posting.
What errors are you seeing.

BillyRay

I used safemode and disabled addons and I still see the line.

I use both the w3.org website and this Firefox addin to make sure i am 100%. But i don't think these small things will make it blink. I have tried it on a few machines now and don't see that problem. Try clearing your cache.

Line 10, replace & with &
Line 17 & 18, stylesheet elements need a type- type="text/css"
Line 189, a left over <p>

Plus, it's always best to make the logo (title in your case) link back to the home page. Put a link and add this to your css for #header, on line 18 of template.css

Code:
text-decoration:none;

reference:

love the use of different css styles for the pages (rv and boat)

Well - it's also fine for me in Fx 3.0.10 under Windows XP.

From your description, it sounds like you are seeing the caret - which is odd because you have no text fields on the page.

Perhaps you have some other software installed on your PC such as Norton Internet or other security software that is interfering.

What happens if you type when you get the black line?

No need for text field to have the caret displayed. Just press F7 :
Caret Browsing said:
Pressing F7 turns Caret Browsing on or off. This feature places a moveable cursor in web pages, allowing you to select text with the keyboard. Do you want to turn Caret Browsing on?

Feherke.

Thank you to BillyRayPreachersSon and feherke. One for figuring out the problem the other for solving it.

Ta!

I'd forgotten all about caret browsing, as it's something I click the 'do not show me this message again' option the first time I see it!
