Hi

We have 6 x 5550 consoles on a 3300 rel 8.

When using the phonebook on console software under the BLF icon some users have blf status and some dont.
This is a standalone site.
I cant understand how the BLFs have been programmed. normally I create a phantom IP extesnion, configure a PKM and configure the BLFs ..... there are no PKMs assigned to any extensions????

Is there any other way to configure BLFs on 5550 consoles.

I need to work out initially how the current BLF icons are configured.
Then secondly work out why some users have the BLF indication but some dont??

Any ideas??

Cheers in advance

James

If a BLF is programmed anywhere in the system, then it will be available to the 5550 Console.

You will probably find the the ones you see are or actual phones for the regular purpose.

The remote BLF form can be exported to show you what BLF's are currently programmed and on which phones they appear.

I too usually burn an IP license and create phantom IP set(s) for BLF's. A 5224 with dual PKM yeild 119 programmable keys. (The best so far)

There is another way but i can not recall how it is called
It has something to do with a directory
I haven't touched a 3300 for a couple of months so i have lost the touch a bit :)

For the last couple of years I have simply added all DNs to Remote busy Lamp Assignment. using csv import, it takes about 2 min. The DN's are then available to the console. If you delete a DN and re-add it for what ever reason, then it will be greyed out on the console and you need to add it again to that form. This solution has never caused any problems that I have found and has survived many upgrades. Have never thought to mention it to Mitel Tech support when I am talking to 2nd or 3rd level support.

RossBC, I've tried that method as well, but I had some issues. Sorry but I can't remember the specifics. Suffice it to say that for now I'm sticking the the method laid out in the manual.

I think I'm going to add this tid bit to the Wish List as the BLF process for the 5550 stinks.

Ross i think that is the method i used too
If there are issues with it then Mitel should add a blf field for programming the blf in there

I ended up creating a PKM and added all the BLFs.
I still cant work out how the existing BLFs were diaplayed:-

No PKMs configured
Nothing in remote directory

???????????????
Thanks for the responses

Were there any BLFs programmed on any other phones? One here, one there, two over there? The BLF only has to exist on the system on one phone to make that one available for the 5550 console.

I just set up a system that had a 200 PerNode on it. I took one of the card slots and programmed as a DNIC card. Then programmed a 4025 with dual PKMs on it. Worked great and I didn't have to use any license to do it. I suppose that one could program a phantom bay on a supported 3300 type, change alarm threshold levels, and program a digital line card to make this work too.

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

The form to look in was remote BLF not remote directory.

As I mentioned before, you more than likely have BLF's programmed on regular phones for the standard purpose. These are the one's that appeared.

you were right, I scanned over some extns and the remote blf form and a few blfs were created.
Never knew that is how it worked............that the console picks up a BLF so logn as it is programmed on the system

thanks for the responses
