On an iMac running OS9.1, i get a message concerning a "blessed folder" and then the hard drive won't mount. i have tried fixing the hard disk with nortons and even reformatted. it worked for a short time but now it's back again. Can anyone tell me what causes this and how i can fix it?

Blessed folders refer to stable System folders. Are you running multiple OSs (OS9.1 and OSX)? Or do you have OSX hiding on the computer, even if not used?

Seeing that you ran Norton's AND reformatted, the problem must be due to software, not hardware.

there's only one OS running. could it be a bad hard drive? or maybe third party software such as video editing or computer animation?

Open your system folder, drag the system suitcase out to your desktrop. Now drop it back in. If it's a viable system it should be blessed again. (Generic folder icon will turn back into a system folder icon)
Best of luck,
PT
