Blaster patch is not working

I hope this isn't a double post. I went though about 30 pages to look to see if this problem or something close was already posted.

This problem has happened to me on two seperate computers. I will download the Blaster worm patch(KB833330) form MS. I try and execute it but beofore the setup wizard pops up, a error message appears that tells me to Install MS03-26. I've tried downloading the KB823980 patch and service packs. But the message appears each time i try the patch.

Could it be a virus thats preventing it from applying?

Go to symantec and get the blaster cure. Then you can go to Microsoft and download the patches. Don't forget to turn off the "system recovery" before the repairs, or they will come back when you reboot. When fixed, turn "system restore back on.

I tried the symantec balster cure and when it finished it said the same thing. The one thing i didn't do was turn off Systme recovery. Thanks

System Restore does not automatically restore anything on a reboot. You would have to run System Restore and then select a restore point to restore from. The valid reason for clearing your restore points would be to prevent the accidental reinfection of a virus at a later date if you were to use System Restore. Or to prevent detection warnings from any scanner that scans the System Restore folders.
