All users have started to get a blank window opening when they open the database.Any ideas why and how I resolve this?

Normally, the window that opens is the About Database document - which appears to not have been filled in.

If that is indeed the problem, you can either fill in that document with a short description of the functionality of the database, or check the database properties to see what the launch properties are.

To do so, open the DB Properties and go to the third tab from the right (between the magnifying glass and the hammer/ruler tabs). On that tab, you have the default launch rule, and the About doc showing rules.

If neither of the About db doc options are checked and the launch rule seems OK, then we will have to start looking somewhere else.

Pascal.

On launch it opens a designated navigator (standard) in it's own window. I'll have a look at the navigator, what am I looking for?

You don't mention which version, but I've experienced in v6.x a corruption of the local bookmarks.nsf that causes a "gray screen" failure - the client just sits at a blank screen, or the default view opens with no data. Renaming bookmarks.nsf and restarting the client (which will automatically make a new bookmarks.nsf) usually fixes the problem. Alternately you could try running nfixup.exe against the bookmarks.nsf on the client PC, but that's been hit-or-miss with me.

I've tried recreating bookmarks.nsf and that doesn't fix it. It is release 6. Where can I get nfixup.exe?

Not sure if it's included in a standard client install, but it should be part of the client/admin/designer install.

Have run this and still have the problem. Thanks for the suggestions. If anyone has any other ideas I would be grateful. Thanks

Try to activate LotusScript debugger before you open the database, and 'step' through any code (if there is any). It's worth a try just to see what it triggers first.
It might work, it might not give any result, but at least one more option eliminated even on failure...

Brgds,

I have now resolved this. Many thanks for your assistance. I'm not sure quite how, tried the above as advised and played with the launch options so it's now sorted. Cheers
