Hi,

In January our NEC SV8100 was upgraded to SV9100. We use a mix of digital and VOIP phones. Last week friday a good deal of the digital phones (DT 300 NEC DTL-24D-1A) started getting BLANK displays. Pressing the dimness button would have no effect, unplugging the phone line would have no effect, the display would simply be blank. Everything else would work fine. [calling out, recieving calls, phone buttons work fine , button lights work fine]. Some phones would be completely blank for sometime but then flicker really quickly. If i replace any of the affected phones with spares, they would work fine but the same thing happens at some point. Restarting PABX made no changes. On Monday some phones started working fine again after unplugging/reconnecting the phone line however some of the phones that were replaced still have the blank display or flickering display.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Our NEC dealer says it might be the phones dying due to age but it doesn't make sense this many phones just dying on the same day. Especially if some start working after some period of time

Have never seen it. I have migrated several systems from 8100 to 9100 and the users have kept their original phones. I have one user with around 100 of their original 8100 phones that are now approaching 11 years old and still going strong.

Are all the affected phones on one card or spread out across the system. Possibly be a card issue or perhaps the power supply is failing, but a power supply you would think would impact all of the phones.

Make sure you check under extension settings that its set for classic view. Newer system come set for that newer GUI interface for the phones.

@conxtel: I think it is 3. This might help

@CoralTech: Thanks for the advice, would you know which program in Webpro controls this? Sorry I am very new to this, I tried looking in [15-01 Extension basic setup] and [15-02 multi line telephone setup] , couldn't find a reference to Gui settings.

Thank you.

Have you tried moving the DLCA cards round to see if the fault moves with the cards? They are hot swapable.

@OzzieGeorge affected phones are on all 3 cards unfortunately.

You know, depending on how you did this upgrade the cards eprom software may not have updated. I THINK you can pop the card, remove it from the card list then pop it back in and see if the system does a first time init/check on the software.
