I installed second nic in pci slot on the box running sco 5.0.5 and the after the reboot the console went blank. Seems a hardware conflict. How can I resolve this?

No obvious conflicts in hardware settings

Take the nic out again?

Have a different nic you can try or another available slot to try the nic in? I'm guessing you are right about hardware conflict, probably in mapped I/O or memory address space. Try turning off all BIOS caching on the server?

3Com Fast Etherlink XL PCI 3C905-TX

Print the result of the
Code:
hw -r pci
command.
Insert the new NIC in an empty slot and remove the old one.
If the system reboots without the blank screen problem, you have definitively a H/W conflict on the PCI bus.
Print the result of the
Code:
hw -r pci
command.
Compare the two listings with special care on this lines:
Code:
BaseAddr
and
Code:
InterrupLine
.
