Can someone quickly set something straight for me ...

Is a blade server a true replacement for 'pizza box' servers? Do you have different OS installs on each blade and apps so effectively they each blade is a different server with seperate name, domain membership, ip address etc

BladeCenter and the Blade servers are a much more comprehensive solution that "pizza box" servers. They are independent servers within a common chassis that contains the management module(s), the Ethernet switch, Fibre switches are available. Each server runs completely independent of the others, so yes, OS, ip address, etc. are separate. You can find more info on BladeCenter and Blade servers here:
 
You know, I have heard rumors of running the OS400 platform off of Blade Servers.
