Blackberry unable to read application data record (have read KB-02048)

I get the "unable to read application data record" error msg when trying to sync my bberry using the desktop manager. I have recreated my config files, per cause 1 in BBerry doc KB-02044, and it works-- once. I have to recreate my config files every time I want to synch. I've also deleted and reinstalled the desktop manager from the bberry site, but still have same problem. Is there a solution? Thanks very much.
