hi, when i import my footage from my camera, there are black sidebars on the video. these bars are only about 7 pixels wide, so it might be cropped when played back on a TV, but it proposes a problem when i have the video clips movie across the screen. can anyone tell me how to mask out these regions, or how to prevent them from being imported in the first place? ( when i adjust the capture resolution it just shrinks the entire image, rather than eliminating the bars )

also i tried using an image matte transparency to eliminate the bars from footage that is moving across the screen, however the image matte does not move with the video clip. is there any way to make the image matte for a clip move with the clip itself?

thank you,
andrew

Check your settings to make sure you're capturing and working under the right resolution. If you're in analog, go 640x480. If mini-DV, then 720x480. If you shot in analog but are editing in a DV resolution, then that would explain the black bars on the side edges. Hope that helps you out!
