Black flashes while exporting

whenever i print to video using premiere 6.01 and a DV500 card, the video flashes black for a moment before and after effects... sometimes it even does it randomly in the middle of the video. what could be causing this? also sometimes it seems to fade a little black then come back ok without the entire picture disappearing... any suggestions would be appreciated.
