BK Exec 9 No properties box !!!!!!

just installed BK Exec 9 and need to change the block and buffer size on the device properties window.
however, when I click on properties nothing happens! don't get the usual box with the various tabs on it.
have tried right clicking/properties and file/Properties
Nothing!!
Any clues

try repairing the MSDE DB backup exec has running behind it, you would do his via the beutility.exe
check that you have the VRTS drivers installed
check your system logs (Event viewers) , check to see if you are getting any errors reported from the tape drive ie. ID 7,9,11,15's > if so, you could be having issues with the tape device.
check that you are on the latest build of 9.0 (rev 4454, 4367 is the old one)
