bjc 4300 will not print with usb parallel printer cable adaptor

Physical fault with parallel port means have to use usb parallel printer cable adaptor.

1) Computer with faulty parallel port : canon bjc 4300 fails to print using usb parallel printer cable adaptor.

1) Computer with faulty parallel port : epson stylus color 600 works without a hitch on same computer using usb parallel printer cable adaptor.

2) Computer with working parallel port :- canon bjc 4300 works perfectly using standard parallel printer cable.

Would welcome any advice on how to enable canon bjc 4300 to work with parallel printer cable adaptor, please?
