Hello,

Does anyone know how to manage an Bizerba scale (model BS) from
within a VFP app? I view it like an Exe to wich you pass
a file containing product codes, description and price and those values are uploaded onto the scale.

Is there some special driver for that since I found nothing onto Bizerba's website.

Thank you
Daniel

Not knowing anything about that particular scale, can you give us some general info?

What type of interface does it use to the workstation - RS232/Serial, Parallel, USB, or what?

With some basic knowledge about it we can most likely suggest a means of 'talking' to it through the port from a VFP application.

Good Luck,
JRB-Bldr

Daniel,

I don't know anything about this particular product, but clearly this is a programmable scales, so there must be some technical documentatoin available that tells you how to program it. It's almost certain that documentation won't way anything about VFP, but it should give you the information you need in general terms.

If you can find that information, we can probably help you to translate it to a VFP context.

That said, good luck with getting any info from the Bizerba site. Every one of the links to their BS range leads to a 404 error page.

Mike

From the page that Dan cited:

WINDOWS applications such as MS Excel, MS Access or Visual Basic programs can communicate directly with your Bizerba units via ActiveX control elements.
Daniel, that would seem to be the answer. Given that there's an ActiveX control that Excel and VB can access, then you will be able to use it from within VFP as well. Just get hold of the file and play around with it. With luck, there'll be some documentation to go with it; if not, open it in the VFP object browser, or see what Intellisense tells you.

Thank you all for help,

I actually sent a message to Bizerba but I don't have any answer (yet).
I was hoping there is some application that uploads the data onto the scale given I first provide some file with that information (that's the way some cash registers work).

I will try to see how that ActiveX works

Thank you again,
Daniel
