BITS & RPC

I noticed that i'm not receiving updates from WSUS.Could not start BITS.Decided to changed log on account details for RPC to local system account and not network service. After reboot i was able to start BITS and updates started downloading from WSUS.
Firstly why did this changed and secondly must RPC be setup to local system account?

You could try running the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.
