I have just upgraded to Quark 5 and ever since when I pdf a file I have problems with vector items turning out bitmapped.

This especially happens when fonts have been turned to paths. Does anybody have any ideas why this would is, as it did not happen when I was using 4.11.

Are you using Illustrator produced PDF's? If so, the FLATNESS level needs to be set higher in the Document Setup.

Go to File > Document Setup > Printing & Exporting > Paths: Output Resolution. Verify that the DPI setting is about 1200 DPI or equal to the resolution of the final output device.

This will ensure that all vector curves are smooth and not choppy.

If this is your problem, that is. (i'm guessing)

I have the same problem and the way I solved it was to save the Illustrator file as a pdf instead of an eps. I only do this when we are going to press with the pdf however, for proofs it is good enough the way it is.
