Hello Everyone
We are having an issue with a SBS 2008 server and the BIS service for users using Blackberries using Verizon BIS service. We recently added a Unified communications certificate to the server as it was self-signed cert and since adding the certificate we have had an issue with the BIS users and the service stopping every night. The users stop getting email on the BB devices and when they try to validate their account it says the password is not correct if we restart the IIS service on the server the accounts are fine and will validate. This only happens overnight and we have not been able to pin down the cause at all. Webmail for the same users works with no issue and they are able to logon. Server has been rebooted and user accounts confirmed with the correct information.
SBS 2008 is using the SBS Web Applications website and the default website is stopped.

There do not seem to be any errors in the event logs that could possibly shed some light on this issue.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Pat

Thanks so much for replying this is a very weird issue. The BIS service is controlled by the Telco Verizon and they don't keep logs of connection. The BIS service connects using webmail settings and what happens is every evening and early morning (unable to pin point exact time) the devices stop receiving email and when you logon to the Verizon BIS service they show waiting to validate and when you enter your password it says it is incorrect but if you logon to webmail account and creds are working fine. If I do a IIS Reset on the SBS server you can then complete the validation and email is working to the device again until evening.

I have looked through the event logs and show nothing in application or system that may point to a cause in this issue.

Thanks Pat

I've changed the IIS logging to hourly this morning to see if I can get more information on this. Not knowing the exact times makes the IIS logs a little harder to read.
