Hi
I friend of mine is having problems with the onboard sound in his PC. The Biostar M7VIG motherboard has onboard AC'97 audio which was working fine until a few weeks ago. My friend decided to do a bit of tidying on his PC and deleted all the files he no longer needed.
After this neither of his CD ROM drives and his audio no longer worked. I managed to fix the CD Roms (uninstalled and redetected) but so far I have been unable to get the audio to work. I have downloaded the latest drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled, checked the BIOS (it was fine) but all to no avail. In the device manager it says that the device is working correctly but when I check the properties it says that the device is working but has not been started.
Before I reformat the system does anyone have any Ideas on how to fix this? The operating system is Win XP Home. Also there are no conflicts I can see between any of the hardware.
Thanks
Chris J
