My coomputer is a Gateway product and is running an Intel D845PT chipset with an AMI BIOS. The BIOS has never been upgraded since I bought in 2001. I ran the ExpressUpgrade for this chipset provided by Intel. Of course after the fact, I read some more documentation suggesting to get the upgrade from the OEM. Anyhow, I ran the upgrade and received the CMOS/GPNV error. I did the work around provided by Intel and nothing. After I trie the work around the Boot Agent starts looking for my DHCP. After a boot file can not be found the system is halted. Any ideas?

Did you save the original BIOS? if so you may be able to re-flash this back.
I would normally only upgrade the BIOS if I had some sort of problem that required the BIOS to be upgraded. If it aint broke, don't fix it.
