BIOS updates Adaptec AIC-7899

looking to gain some knowledge. I am a unix person so forgive my ignorance.

I have 2 different boxes a dell 6400 and a dell 4400, I noticed that the bios for the integrated Adaptec AIC-7899 cards are different. I was looking for a bios update for the controllers but can not find one (yes I searched dell drivers and downloads). Can someone tell me if the bios levels are controlled by the system brd bios? FYI I did update the systembrd bios before I went looking for the Adaptec bios so I am not sure if they changed when I updated the system bios.

I was working on another system and the system board bios update will take care of any onboard bios for the scsi adapters. So bios for the same adapter will be different across systems.
