i have a 120gb western digital hard drive. when connected with no other hard drives bios/post runs slow. When another drive is connected alone or with the hard drive bios runs fast. Why does this happen? How can i fix this?

It sounds as if the IDE detection section of the BIOS POST code is having difficulties detecting the drive. Check the IDE jumper(s) on the drive to be sure they are positioned correctly and are not defective. If this doesn't solve it, then try a different IDE cable.

I agree jumpers may be set as Master with Slave Following and the BIOS is looking for that sucker.

I have heard of misplaced jumpers causing more havoc than this, on older equipment jumper placement is critical.

Good luck
