Hi all,

i have an os on a usb that I'm trying to boot onto a new desktop. The bios clearly shows that it can boot from usb, even giving me the option to select boot orders for :usb-hdd,usb-fdd,usb-zip

however, when i plug in the usb and set the boot order to any of the above, the desktop simply restarts it self. It onlys goes as far as verifying DMI Pool.... and the screen turns black and then off and then computer restarts.

I've tried the same on 2 other desktops with the same specs and bios, and they all failed. However, i tried this on my laptop and it worked. All the computers are 64bit and so is the OS as well.

Can anyone think of what could've gone wrong?

Thank you for any help

1. USB booting with some motherboards can be VERY finicky.
2. Just b/c there is an OS on the hard drive does not mean it can boot on any system you connect it to. For one, that system may require certain drivers that are not included in that OS install.
