Having changed the CMOS battery the bios settings have returned to default.

The ASUS Probe now shows the CPU max spped is 3000 but the current speed to be 2200.

Does anyone know the optimum CPU and memeory bios settings.

The configuration is:-

Asus MB A7N8X
CPU= AMD anthlon xp 3200
RAM= Corsair IG DDR matched pair

The True clock speed of an Athlon XP3200+ is a little over 2.2Ghz
The NAME, Athlon XP3.2+, referes to this CPU's performance in relation to an equivelent Intel P4 3.2 with 533 fsb, which it is more or less caparrable with even though the Intel unit runs at a true 3.2ghz

Obviously your memory front side bus should be set to 200 (DDR memory then doubles this to 400 to match this CPU's 400fsb setting)
It should read on first boot as an XP3200 but system properties with report both (the XP3200 and it's actual clock speed of 2.2ghz)
You should be using PC3200 (DDR400) memory type to run sysncronously with this CPU's 400fsb setting.
