We wanted to change the operating syestem on a Nefinity 4500R 8656-1RY from windows 2000 to Linux redhat 9.0.
The system has a IBM 4500R, with a ServeRAID-4M card controlling 2 8GB HD. Just to be safe we updated the BIOS and the Raid using the ServerRaid v7.00 which we downloaded from the IBM site (90p2778.iso). That all seemed to go fine.....but we cannot configure an Array as the Raid does not see any HD connected? The drives are in slot 0 and 1 and both have a green light. We tried ignoring it but when we install Linux and are prompted whether we would like to update the driver none of the available options work. We were not able to find any drivers on the Red Hat site so it was back to the IBM site...
We are looking at the following options as our next steps:
1. booting with the biosfw3.img which contains the firmware update for the ServerRaid-4M (ibm site 25r5029.exe)
2. booting Using the flash BIOS update from the IBM site (33p2627.exe)
3. booting with the IBM Hard Disk Drive Update Program (26r0565.iso)
any help would be appreciated as we have been very unsuccessful in solving what we had hoped was an easy change......
Thanks
