Here is the situation...

I want to link two networked PCs in my home to one NTL Cable Modem. The problem is, the cable modem requires you to set you TCP/IP settings to obtain an address via DHCP. My home network is currently set to use static IP addresses. I have got an ethernet hub and I want to connect the modem and both PCs to it thus in theory allowing both computers access to the modem. I can't really get my head round it at the moment, plus the NTL guy hasn't installed the cable yet so I haven't had chance to even try anything yet.

I have a feeling I am going to need to be able to bind a static and a dynamic IP to one ethernet card, the question is how do I do that???????

Thanks.

Naaah. As long as your cable company knows and allows you to have two direct connections, you can just use DHCP. You can use another (NetBoui) protocol for your LAN...

NetBEUI will only help with sharing files and printers.

There is another thread, thread581-83176, that answers this question regarding TCP/IP. It essentially comes down to: if you're running Win9x, it's a pain, and you'll need two NIC cards or another machine with an OS that has decent network support.
