Is there any way to set up the novell client so it ONLY looks at one of the 2 network cards in the machine when trying to locate a server?

The problem is I have a 2000 machine setup to run to independent networks. I can ping anything on both networks now, including the server, but the novell client can not locate a tree. I got it to do it once by adding some route commands, but it stopped working after a reboot. So any help you guys can offer would be appreciated. Thanks.

I will assume that you have each NIC on a different IP sunet. It also sounds like an SLP issue. Have you configured SLP on your NW6 server yet? How are you getting the SLP info to your clients?

Try placing the IP address of the server you are trying to attach to in the SERVER NAME field, and clear the TREE and CONTEXT fields when you login. If this makes it work, the problem is SLP. Brent Schmidt CNE,Network + [atom]

I don't even know what SLP is. I removed both the tree and context, and put in the server IP, and it worked! Since that worked, it would indicate as you said that the problem is SLP. How do I go about fixing it? We recently setup NW6, and I'm not familiar with SLP at all. Thanks again.

SLP = Service Location Protocol.
SLP is to TCP what SAP is to IPX

Also search around this forum, there are many good tips on SLP here.
