We have a complex report that utilizes a few subreports. I have monitored the cursors in Oracle and noticed that a cursor was opened for each subreport query... rather that using bind variables and fetching all ...

Apart from using Stored Procedures (Which I haven't done yet? Though I may consider a point in the right direction)
Is there any other way f forcing CR to use Bind Variables...?

Cheers,

Subreports have their own datasources, and appropriately have poor performance, try to avoid using them.

Stored Procedures will help, and if you're able to create them, do so, the performance will be better.

A common performance problem using tables and views is that the developer does NOT verify that the SQL CR generates is getting passed to the server, CR does a bad job of this.

I've yammered on about how to increase your odds in a few threads here if that's of interest.
