bind variables

i have a select in which order by is done based on a variable.eg:

order by :eek:rderbycolumn;

should i bind that too,if yes how do i do that?

Hi, I don't get your question... can you be more precise?? What do you mean by 'select'? Sql statement?
 
Wouldn't use bind variables in PL/SQL statements from within Java. I would prefer to go with straight JDBC and parse together your SQL statements in Java.

Personally I tend to stay away from any kind of Stored Procedures so that I don't get locked to anyone RDBMS. If you stay with straight JDBC then your application can easily be ported to a multitude of different RDBMS Systems. Wushutwist
