I just installed BIND 8 on my Redhat 6.1 box. The RPM installed just fine and I have enable the named service. But when I restart my server, the named prompts a message saying that it can't find /etc/named.conf.

I am new to BIND and have no idea how to setup this conf file. Where can I find examples of BIND config?

ttest, check your box for a DNS-HOWTO - I don't know about RedHat, but SuSE installs them in /usr/share/doc/howto/en/html. If not do a search on the net for DNS-HOWTO. That is an excellent starter guide.

If you want to delve into DNS and Bind even more - get O'Reilley's book "DNS and Bind", that's for a more in-depth guide.

Hope this helps,
Paul

they wrote BIND, the manuals are there and the mailing list archives are often helpful
