I have been handed a project and I don't know if its possible.

I have a one record file of binary data (a building sketch) and I need to import this into a Access table field type OLE Object.

I checked the forums here in tek-tip and Google but have not could not come up with anything.

Does anyone have a solution? Any help would be appreciated.

timb94,
Is it something you will be doing one at a time or a one time batch thing for multiple files?

If it's one at a time you can right click on the OLE field in a Table, Query, Form view and select Insert Object... and you will prompted with a dialog box that will allow you to navigate to the file you want to insert. If your adding functionality for users look at [tt]DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdInsertObject[/tt] (making sure an OLE field has the focus before this is called).

Be carefull with [tt].AppendChunk()[/tt], it will let you store (and later retrieve) objects from a field but if you intend to display the object on a Form/Report you may have issues.

Hope this helps,
CMP

Thank you both for your suggestions.

Thank you Remou for your link to Microsoft.

I'll take a look at both approaches.

I think I had tunnel vision and did not even think about Blobs.

Thanks again.
