Does anyone know where I can get a list of standard permissions for the files in the /bin directory? It seems that someone that had the root password did a chmod 777 in /bin (and possibly other directories as well) and I am having problems with su, smit, and enq right now (possibly others that I haven't come across).

Regards,

Matthew

I can send you a text file that has a ls -l of the /bin directory. Would that help?

That would be a huge help right now. I had a melt down not too long ago, and don't have anything on tape to verify against.

Send me your email address (if we can download files here, I don't know how).

Thanks for the help.

You can drop it into dr_hoss1@yahoo.com.

Do you have Trusted Computing Base (TCB) installed? it may help you track the changes and alert you the discrepancy. The TCB can be installed during AIX installation. It may help you avoid the same problems in the future. :)
