Big trouble - anyone know what I should do?? Can't boot

I ran up2date and upgraded the kernel on my RH 7.3. Now I'm getting a slew of error messages and an aborted boot. This is part of what I'm seeing:

mv: cannot move `/var/log/ksyms.0' to `/var/log/ksyms.1': Rad-only file system (and all the other ksyms.* files)

mount / not mounted or bad option

and a lot of other stuff I've never seen before. It hangs at "Starting system logger:"

Any ideas?

Ran linux rescue and changed a couple mis-settings to get things back on track, then reinstalled the original kernel and off for an up2date....

Although I'm not sure why it failed to boot, my guess is that I had something misconfig'd before the update, and the new kernel rebelled.

Okay, okay, I ordered the book today. Only a few more days of misconfigurations and I should have a RH 7.3 Bible to help me along ;-)
