Hi,

there is 3 year ago i buy on ebay a nokia IP330 all work properly but yesterday the hard disk fails.

impossible to boot ( the nokia hangs on VERIFING DMI POOL DATA )

i try to join nokia but they not support the material buy on ebay ( impossible to download IPSO image ... )

so i have a floppy disk and a cdrom with checkpoint and IPSO os ... included with the package but i don't understand how i make a total reinstall with a new hard drive because there is not floppy bus on the motherboard of IP330, just a classic ide bus to put HDD and CDROM drive

please tell me what is the process to reinstall the IP330 when a HDD is totally dead

P.S ( sorry for my poor english it's not my native language, i'm french )

Bonjour !

You have a small problem, in that the IP330 has the bootmanager and partition tables laid down at the beginning of the disk and the IP330 has no method of installing or booting from a CDROM or floppy.

Officially, the answer is to send the device to Nokia along with a big cheque if you have no maintenance contract. This isn't very helpful, so here's a better way.

visit - they can provide a new pre-built hard drive with the necessary bootmanager and partition table installed so that you can just drop it into your chassis and load an IPSO image that suits you. Depending on how wrecked your old drive is, they may even be able to get your config off the old unit.

or if you have another working nokia you can copy the image of that disk onto a new drive, either using dd on the nokia itself (on the ip330 your will need a 'Y-splitter' power cable and a duel ended ide cable, or plug the drives into your pc and use acronis or something like that
