i've noticed on my norton systemworks web history that my netscape emails go first to http:/big.oscar.aol.com/, but i do not subscribe to any AIM IM services

is this standard, or are my emails going to a 3rd party or???

I've noticed the same thing, after I added my e-mail address to protected data, I get a warning & block every time I open an e-mail. Since I've been blocking big.oscar.aol.com, the spam has really dropped off. I conclude that who ever big oscar is, they are selling my email address.
I did a regsearch & deleted the sub entries, but it did'nt help.

I just had an incoming packet blocked by my firewall, the whois info gave big.oscar.aol.com as the source. From what you say, I guess this could be a spammer address?

Don't know what we can do about such things, except remember the name for future blacklists, if there are such things?

um, did a bit more looking and perhaps it is not a spammer but something to do with finding out of someone is online for instant messaging, presumably AIM. You type in a particular URL which includes 'big.oscar.aol.com' and press enter and if the person is online you get the running man... I did and got a running man, but I hadn't identified any individual. I then checked with Messenger to see if a mate might have 'paged' me, and he is online,so might have, but he doesn't use AOL. and nor do I, so.... I dunno......mystery.
Oh well...
